Reboot

File name: IOC_E_Status.adl
This is the screen that displays and controls many operations concerned with the status of the IOC. The IOC heartbeat is displayed at the top. The time and date of the last Reboot, last Save of control parameters, and last Restore of said parameters are shown as well. Save and Restore refer to the operation of the Back-Up and Restore Tool (BURT).

The SAVE operation writes new snap files to the directory /site/epics/1098bin/hcptarg/REBOOT. These files mostly contain settings for PID loops and alarm limits. The settings for the LHe batchfill and LN2 autofill sequences are saved here as well.

The RESTORE operation reads the snap files from the disk, and writes the corresponding control parameters to the IOC. The RESTORE procedure also enables the necessary PID loops and autofill sequences.

NEVER perform the SAVE operation immediately following or during an IOC reboot or crash. This will write zeroes to the snap files, and the correct control parameters will be lost.

The REBOOT button may be used to issue the software ``reboot'' command to the IOC. This is normally used to reboot the IOC after an upgrade or change to the control software. The REBOOT button will not work unless a ``Reboot Reason'' is selected from the menu located above the button. Once selected, the user must press the button within five seconds for the reboot to take place.
