Date: Sat, 14 Dec 2002 00:44:49 -0500 (EST) Attached are my latest results for RSS MC to data comparisons for run 43204. Things to note: 1) The RSS slow raster is in (you knew this but I just wanted to document it). 2) I had to assume an horizontal beam position offset of 4.5 mm to better match the Ytar distributions. There is really no other way to do it at such forward angles. This is about a factor of 2 larger than the number that you gave me. However, this only effects the extracted cross section at about the 1% level. 3) The MC now corrects both reconstructed delta and X'tar for the vertical raster position. This is done using the 1st order forward and reconstruction matrix elements. This makes the X' comparisons to data much better! 4) I assumed a tracking efficiency of 99.5% and cut efficiencies for the cerenkov and calorimeter that were the same as we found from the R experiments (both ~99.6%). 5) The physics model which is compared to is a DIS parameterization of F2 and R from NMC and SLAC, respectively, and described our E99-118 carbon data at about the 5% level at similar kinematics. Of course we would like a data-to-data comparison so I have attached the data/MC comparison for E99-118 at similar kinematics. The scale factors needed to bring the MC into agreement with the data are remarkably close for the 2 experiments. Also, The shape difference with Energy seems to be similar as well (although not as large for the E99-118 data).
