Three experiments will use the polarized target setup in Hall C: SANE, Semi-SANE and Compton. Both SANE and Semi_SANE use the Beta and the BigCal. The Compton experiment only uses BigCal and does not use Beta. Beta consist of a scintillator hodoscope, gas Cerenkov detector and lucite hodoscope followed by BigCal. The scint hodoscope needs a length of about 3cm. The gas cerenkov length is 164.3cm. The lucite needs a length of about 10cm. Following table has the distance from the target center for each device for Beta. Detector Distance --------- ---------- Scint hodo Front 53cm Gas Cerenkov Front 60.7cm, Back 225cm Lucite Front 230cm, Back 240cm BigCal glass Front 325cm The compton experiment needs only the BigCal. Next is a table of the Beta+BigCal or BigCal angle needed and BigCal distance from target center to front face. Experiment Angle Distance ----------- ------ --------- SANE 40 325cm Semi-SANE 30 325cm Compton 25 700cm Compton 82 250cm The range of HMS angles is in the following table Experiment HMS Angles ---------- ----- SANE 13-48 Semi-SANE 11 Compton 12 and 39 The target field for SANE will be both parallel and perpendicular. For Semi-SANE the target field will be parallel. For Compton the target field will be 5 degrees off from parallel for the HMS angle = 12 degrees. For Compton with HMS angle = 39 the target field will be off. -- Mark Jones 757-269-7733 jones@jlab.org
