Minutes of CalCom working group representatives meeting: Wed. September 25 1:00-4:00 Room L207 Agenda: 1:00-1:20 Summary of submitted status reports D. Sober 1:20-1:40 *Trigger/DAQ issues D. Doughty 1:40-2:00 *On-line software issues D. Cords 2:00-3:30 Discuss detailed run plan for December 3:30-4:00 February commissioning run issues V. Burkert Written status reports were submitted prior to the meeting by the following working groups: Beamline devices (A. Freyberger) Offline software (A. Freyberger) Cerenkov counters (J. Price) Drift chambers (M. Mestayer) Forward calorimeter (W. Brooks) Tagger (D. Sober) TOF counters (E. Smith) These reports are available on the CalCom Web page: http://www.cebaf.gov/clas/technical/calcom.html under the heading of *"Working group status reports submitted 25 Sept. 1996". The reports were summarized briefly by D. Sober. Dave Doughty reported on the status of the trigger and data acquisition hardware. The necessary hardware for the December run should be ready in time, including one sector of Level 2 cluster finding. The triggers should be defined during October, with the various detector working groups making their needs known. Dieter Cords reported on the on-line computer hardware and software. The Sun cluster is ready in the counting room. There has been a delay in the arrival of the PowerPC processors for the VME crates, but these are now in hand. The detector working groups must supply: Translation tables for the cabling Sequencing process and calibration tables Code for histograms and statistics The functionality required for on-line analysis tasks (define the functionality before deciding on the technique) Discussion of the revised proposal for the December run. The two proposed documents are available on the Web page as: Proposal for December 1996 run - 25 Sept. 1996: *"General considerations" *"Detailed schedule" These will be discussed further by the Collaboration at the Oct. 12 meeting. The issue of manpower was discussed. The consensus is that for the December run a full complement of "experts" for each subsystem must be on call, and that the working groups should submit lists of participants to the run coordinator well in advance. The election of a run coordinator should take place at the Oct. 12 meeting. Volker Burkert presented the current accelerator schedule for 1997, and discussed the complications in selecting energies when several halls are running simultaneously. Attending: W. Brooks, V.
