Yuri Gotra

Yuri Gotra is a Staff Scientist in Hall B and the technical project leader for the Silicon Vertex Tracker (SVT). He received his M.S. in Physics from Moscow State University on studies of the DELPHI hadron calorimeter and his Ph.D. in Nuclear and Particle Physics from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, Russia in 2004 on studies of the inclusive J/Ψ cross section at 1.96 TeV, CDFII experiment, Tevatron collider, Fermilab. He was a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Pittsburgh and later a Scientist at Rochester University before coming to JLab in 2011. He has performed experiments at JINR, INFN, FNAL, and CERN as a member of the DELPHI, SDC, CDF, and CMS collaborations. He has authored over 450 papers in refereed journals and has been a lead author on more than 40 of these papers. He has contributed to the development, construction, and operation of CDF SVXII and CMS Silicon Trackers and B physics analysis at CDF, Fermilab during Run II. At JLab he has contributed to the development, construction, and commissioning of the Hall B Silicon Vertex Tracker for the CLAS12 detector.

Current Responsibilities in Hall B:

  • Operation and maintenance of the CLAS12 Silicon Vertex Tracker. Characterize performance of the SVT detector using the current physics runs.
  • As the Micromegas detector contact person, provide support for the operation and maintenance of the MVT detectors (BMT, FMT, and FTT). Characterize performance of the Micromegas detectors.
  • Responsible for CLAS CD Tracker alignment and validation. Lead the CVT Software group.
  • Optimization of the CLAS Central Tracking for future operations with polarized target and high luminosity.
  • Participate in the activities of the Very Strange group.
