Minutes of Regular Hall C Meeting
October 23 @ 3:00 p.m.
************************************************************************
- Engineering (Paul Brindza)
- Power supply – Saturday 8:00 a.m. HMS dipole crashed, with large water leaks and blown transformer. Only running at 200 Amps, such that no real beam could happen. Reassemble Monday morning, so far no water leaks, still trying to figure out what the problem is. A spare has been ordered.
- Detector design has began for Gen/Day experiment
- The Japanese new hypernuclear spectrometer system has been looked at and looks good, the first quadrupole looks good also.
- Engineering (Bill Vulcan)
- 208 panels for G0 have been put in, no cables in yet
- It’s been 3 weeks since lemo cables have been ordered, but still no sign of them, apparently lost in 90-126. Will have to reorder.
- Monday evening, the 3rd pass setup and running will take place
- On Oct. 26th, Hall A will get 3rd pass beam, Hall C will need to close 1 or 4-pass beam.
- Showed triple coincidence events (HMS, front layer, rear layer) and low to select good events
- Time of calibration spectrum-2ns FWHM
- Showed real/accidental rates as function of software threshold
- Slowed initial slactel of a redesigned neutron detector, using the PSI-LADS bars
- Limited to 300 channels
- Added more 10cm bars for proton detection
- Question was raised how high He detector can be to still fit in the detector tint
- Cryo-target report – cool down Tuesday
- Mark Jones has accepted the staff position for Hall C. His start date will be January.
- Last friday closing up, survey indicated possible 4mm off set vertically. New survey was done on Saturday and targets positions were determined from survey.
- Target encoders are not implemented in the GUI yet. Madey will check with nucelius.
- HMS dipole water problem water was removed Saturday, Hall is drying up.
- Beam could not be seen or beam viewer. Decision to go to 3-pass and use a CCD camera on beam during viewer to accomplish beam checkout test plans.
