Minutes of Regular Hall C Meeting
October 22, 2001@ 3:00 p.m.
************************************************************************
¨ General (Rolf Ent)
v The hall will close Wednesday at noon for beam
v Accelerator started restoring beam after recovering from an LCW pipe rupture
¨ Installation (Walter Kellner)
v Ferris Wheel work was completed
v Gen small jobs were completed and are ready for Wednesday
v Hall beam infrastructure is progressing well
¨ Engineering (Paul Brindza)
v Maintenance on HMS magnets is being worked on
v Quadrupole heaters needed work, almost done
¨ Moller Status/ODH event (Howard Fenker)
v Last Friday a test on JT valve controller was made, resulting in N2 exhaust through a relief
v The N2 loss resulted in an ODH alarm by the He sensor
v It appeared a N2 sensor was missing, has been installed now
v The relief valve is going to be changed to 35 PSI (from 15 PSI)
v A relief line is installed to vent the gas (initially) in the hall.
¨ Gen (Marko Zeier)
v Polarized target magnet was turned off over the weekend, start up today to do thermal equilibrium measurements
v N Detector is operational and ready
v Hamlet did test on laser and HMS detectors last week
v Epics monitors were done by Steve Wood
v Concerns: beam current asymmetry because of 3 laser operation, and beam leakage
v Injector test at 15 micro-amps slow leakage of less than 1% by Hall A laser, with slits closed to 100-150 nAmps
v Raster frequency will be 1H2 after all
v Friday to survey beam line with vertical chicane
¨ General (Hamlet Mkrtchyan)
v HMS hodoscopes had some problems, fixed. Will get Bill to look at it tomorrow
v Noisy plane (2V1) in chamber
v Today there were problems with laser, will look into it.
¨ G0 (Greg Smith)
v 4,000 connections for G0 Ferris Wheel were made, thanks all involved
v With additional access time, cables could be tested too
v 6 or 7 octants were finished, job well done
v 32 multi connector HV cables, will come in Friday
v Alignment work of chambers was done, may need one more try
v Leakage of French octant PMT’s was false alarm, was due to working of monitoring PMT
v Fiber optics will get plugged in today and tomorrow
¨ Gen (Dick Madey)
v Showed data from his run
v Showed various cuts selecting proper quasifree events in invariant mass spectra
