Minutes of Regular Hall C Meeting
May 17, 1999 @ 3:00 p.m.
************************************************************************
- Engineering: (Paul Brindza)
- Magnets trips mostly related to
routine maintenance, everything else running fine
- One time magnet PC lost a disk, restored disk
- 3 cell blocks in cryotarget look good
- Pressure tested at 410 lbs.
- Loops are test fitted, 1 to 2 minor problems
- Final fit later this week, 3 loops should fine
- Target design due in today
- Found possible interference SOS - beamline for HNSS
Experiment, need survey done
- 1-2 days in June for survey
- Overview of last weeks run: (Antje Bruell)
- Beam on target, 1H, only 40 m
A!
- Beam off to:
- Increase current
- Hall B energy charge
- Beam on target again, finished dummy running
- Switched to 2H target, finished
- Increase current/polarization for Hall A
- Beam back
- Finished 1H statistics
- Target boiling test (2H), (1.0 ±
0.5) % at 60 m
A
- Energy measurement, (4.471 ±
0.006) GeV
- Q1 problems, exchange disk
- HMS HV problem, be careful when pulling out/putting back cords!
- HMS’ magnet rip rate still ~ Ù
/4 hours
- Switch to 56Fe this afternoon/evening!
- HV System will not reboot
- Additional Fastbus crate/modules are ordered
- Report on R (E94-110), (Thia Keppel)
- Showed results of previous Jlab experiments based on quark hadron duality
- Assuming duality, R seems related to GE/GM too
- Issue will be revisited with upcoming experiment
- Luminosity Scan (Chris Armstrong)
- Showed results with slow spiral fast raster
- With 1H target strong indication of boiling in upstream section of target
- Possibly related to flow in target
- Optical Transition Radiation Monitor(OTR)
- Showed data from commissioning
- First test results showed good dispersion in ARC, second result shows
10-3dispersion
- Need to fix beam tune before further target boiling tests
- Discussion of relevance for future experiments
- Discussion of how this is integrated in the data stream
- Diagram of what G0 will look like
- Showed overview of various components and responsibilities
- Showed changes of management structure
- First coil test this week
- Early June final coil test
- By fall, curved scintillators will be ready for testing
- G0 Review went fairly well
Dates for Future Readiness Reviews (Roger Carlini)
- HNSS – July 29
- Gen (E93-038)– August 12
- Gen (E93-026)– (undetermined)
- Gave a list of names of potential new Staff Scientist
- Applications will be handed out this week to staff members
