Minutes of Regular Hall C Meeting
May 24, 1999 @ 3:00 p.m.
************************************************************************
- General (Roger Carlini)
- Compared data - Hall A to Hall C Neutrons
- Hall C used Fe target, Hall A used H target
- Hall C shows lot more neutrons with a factor of about 20.
- Engineering: (Bill Vulcan)
- Cable company says that the cables will be in for High Voltage change
over by June 1, 1999.
- Boxes for High Voltage splitter is in shop
- All connectors are in
- Power supply for split-pole is in test lab
- AC cables and switches are in
- DC cables are in this week
- Power will be shut down in Hall next Tuesday (6/1/99)
- Affected areas: LCW, air conditioner
- Plant services wants minimum power usage
- G0 scalars were checked out
- No fuse
- 90% of Ic's use ic sockets.
- No cross talk on neighbor channels
- HMS system (Steve Lassiter)
- New dumping light indicator (red) to indicate wait period quad resets
- Did not work on the automatic PC reboot, discussion follows that this does not cause down time
- Chips still need to be replaced or changed, version which arrived did not fit
- Overview of last weeks run: (Antje Bruell)
- Continuous problems with HMS magnets and HV crates
- Down to an average of 2 magnet trips every 3 hours
- Smooth data taking on 2H (3 K events) + some dummy target data
- 30 m A, target, events collected on Fe (x>1 target): ~ 450 (~20-%)
- Add statistics on Fe ® 45 m A
- (goal: 2000 events),
- Measure 1H at Q2=8 GeV2
- Iron running/Survey (Rolf Ent)
- Rate is increasing by 10-20 % (after ~25200)
- Target having problems with melting, independent of fast raster pattern used
- Survey on HMS was good, reproduces '97 data and '96/model pattern
- Survey on SOS sometimes reproduces old surveys, sometimes slows 1-2 mm random offsets, likely due to concrete in hall and SOS bowl bearing
- G0 (Allison Lung)
- Phil Roos will be here at the end of the week, holding a detector working group meeting
- Report on G0 Review was sent out today
-
- Fast Radiation Monitors (Howard Fenker)
- Parts to the target chamber were delivered about a week and a half ago
- Proportional tube have been installed, 2 in the Hall, one before green wall, one on top of HMS
- Scope triggers when one of the magnets has tripped, no clear indicator of "beam spikes" causing trips
- Wants to put the Hall C Manual on web (working on it)
- Closing (Roger Carlini)
- Wants to have a meeting within the week to discuss the candidates for the new Hall C position
