Hall C 12GeV Upgrade
Monte Carlo for SHMS
The new SHMS no longer has separate Small Solid Angle (SSA) and Large Solid Angle (LSA) tunes.
The new configuration (spectrometer option=5) consists of:
- a 3 degree horizontal pre-bender
- 2 long HMS Q1-style quadrupoles
- a third quadrupole that shares a common cryostat with ...
- a dipole
Note that we no longer use the combined function magnet.
This configuration gives
- a solid angle of about ~3.5 msr over the full angular range (5.5 to 25 degrees)
- a large momentum bite (-15 to +20%)
- a minimum angle of the SHMS of 5.5 degrees
- a minimum relative angle between the HMS and SHMS of 17.5 degrees
The single arm version of the Monte Carlo is available as a tar-ball at: mc_shms_qd_bender.tar.gz
The updates for SIMC (coincidence Monte Carlo) have been put in the cvs version (simc_semi).

For simulations for upcoming 12 GeV PACs, one should assume the "standard" 10 cm, 20 cm, and 30 cm cryotargets will be available. Please note that the total beam current available for Hall C and Hall A together will be 85 micro-amps (11 GeV equivalent).
