Hall C 12GeV Upgrade
Monte Carlo for SHMS
The SHMS configuration (spectrometer option=5) in the Monte Carlo consists of the elements shown in the sidebar schematic:
- the target window aperture
- a 3 degree horizontal pre-bender
- 3 quadrupoles, two of them are similar
- a dipole
This configuration gives
- a solid angle of about >4.5 msr over the full angular range (5.5 to 25 degrees). For further information see HallC-doc-16.
- a large momentum bite (-10 to +22%)
- a minimum angle of the SHMS of 5.5 degrees
- a minimum relative angle between the HMS and SHMS of 17.5 degrees
- optional collimated acceptance (c.f. HallC-doc-465)
- for extended target acceptance c.f. HallC-doc-466
The single arm version of the Monte Carlo is available as a tar-ball at: mc_shms_update.tar.gz
For simulations for upcoming 12 GeV PACs, one should assume the "standard" 10 cm, 20 cm, and 30 cm cryotargets will be available. Please note that the total beam current available for Hall C and Hall A together will be 85 micro-amps (11 GeV equivalent).
