MDU0G00 - (mounted to magnet MDU1F01) should have a +/- 3 amp
hysteresis loop. The minimum field integral is achieved by setting
the trim coil to - 1.60 amps.
MDX2G01 - (mounted to magnet MDX3F01) should have a +/- 3 amp
hysteresis loop. The minimum field integral is achieved by setting
the trim coil to + 0.62 amps.
Just an operational note as to how this should be done (at least
how the measurement was made.) Failure to follow this guarantees
the "zero field" or the return to the nominal field
will NOT be set properly.
When setting the magnet to "zero field integral":
1) The trim coil should be at 0 amps and on loop
2) Set the main coils to 0 amps and cycle through hysteresis (0 - 50 - 0 amps.) (This is not able to be done to MDX2G01 until the arc dipole power supplies are hooked up.)
3) Set the trim coil to the proper "zeroing" value
and cycle it through hysteresis (the control system should cycle
the coil through +/- 3 amps, go to +3 amps, and then down to the
proper current.)
When returning the magnet to nominal field:
1) Set the trim coil to 0 amps and cycle it through hysteresis
2) Set the main coils to the nominal current and cycle them through
hysteresis
