Management

This week FEL commissioning was re-started on Monday, June 1. include:

Highlights for the week

1) Initial check-out of the bunch length interferometers
2) Preliminary measurements of electron beam transverse emittance at the wiggler position that are
favorable.

A review of the proposal to put a "Technology Innovative Center" within the ARC Building was held on Friday, June 5. The proposal was put together by the ARC University Consortium and Jefferson Lab in response to an RFP by the state's Center for Innovative Technology. The Friday review was in reponse to the ARC proposal having won a down-select to five proposals state-wide from a set of 22 submitted to CIT. If the propsal is funded, the award will provide seed funding for start-up of the materials processing, materials analysis and laser labs that will be very useful for FEL users.

Installation Activities

M. James, a student of Uwe Happek at the University of Georgia, visited this week to help check the bunch-length interferometers and ensure the software works.

We measured and installed a pair of correctors in the Injector upstream of the cryounit and downstream of the second solenoid to be used for machine development. These correctors will eliminate the effect of the coupling between the x and y axis seen when using the correctors mounted upstream of the second solenoid.
