Items of Discussion
-----------------
- Geoff reported on the Diagnostic Integration plan. The slides can be
viewed on the www at: http://www.cebaf.gov/~legg/081297_comm/commtg.ps The main points were:
They are responsible for the hardware.
They are responsible for the software to operate the devices.
They AREN'T responsible for data analysis or high level applications.
If you need high level software to execute a particular test plan you
need to write it yourself or see the software group (Alicia) and discuss with
her your need and then prepare to battle for the resources to get it done.
Similarly, the Diagnostic Review committee will rule on changes to
diagnostic hardware and priorities.
New Issues
----------
- Steve reported that it was impossible to align the wiggler using the
pulsed wire system. However, the four quads had been aligned to within 100
microns and we corroborated the STI measurements on the wiggler
which verified that the wiggler was undamaged magnetically in shipping.
Steve still would like to get Chris Curtis to check the alignment between the
wire and the wiggler which will allow cross alignment to the quads.
- Lia reported that, for the first cavity in the cryounit, the optimum
loaded Qext for 1.1 mA (first light) was so much different from the 5 mA case,
that the rf power requirement would double to 11 kW if the situation was not
corrected using a stub tuner or waveguide iris. The 11 kW is high enough
that Joe Preble was nervous about damage to the warm window and he was
going to approach Mark Augustine with the request. The second cavity in the
unit was acceptable and the data on the cryomodule from the VTA hadn't been
analyzed yet.
