Accelerator Operations :

As part of the Accelerator division at Jefferson Lab, the Accelerator Operations group is responsible for the many different aspects of delivering high quality electron beams to the endstations for experimental physics studies.

In the Machine Control Center (MCC), operators work 24 hours a day to maintain and improve all of the various systems necessary for beam operations. The crews remotely operate the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility(CEBAF) using a sophisticated computer system that simultaneously monitors more than 100,000 signals and controls 25,000 hardware components. The complex cryogenic, microwave, vacuum and magnet systems that make up the accelerator require constant attention and a quick, knowledgeable response when a system goes down.

Mission:

To provide safe and efficient delivery of high quality electron beam for Jefferson Laboratory's nuclear and accelerator physics programs.
