Supporting Jefferson Lab's main mission of nuclear physics research is the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility. CEBAF, based on superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) accelerating technology, is the world's most advanced particle accelerator for investigating the quark structure of the atom's nucleus. Physicists, engineers, and technicians in the Jefferson Lab Accelerator Division operate and maintain CEBAF. They also conduct a variety of other scientific efforts.
