AlignIt is a least-squares, best-fit, shape-fitting and coordinate manipulation
software package created by Ken Baggett at Jefferson Lab. While the package is
built to run seamlessly with the ACAMS software package, a concentrated effort
was made to enable the software to be used in a variety of other applications.
Input coordinates can be read from either a 3DCD created XYZ file or a simple
delimited Label XYZ file. Once the coordinates are read into AlignIt they can be
used in shape fitting, rotation and translation. From there, the shapes themselves can
be used to create part coordinate systems for real time alignment of complex parts.

AlignIt shape fitting can be used to form:
  • Lines
  • Circles
  • Planes
  • Spheres
  • Points
AlignIt can also be used for coordinate transformations and part alignment including:
  • Rotations
  • Translations
  • 3-2-1 Alignments
  • Cylinder Alignments
