Dear Drifters;
We are moving into a period of intensive activity. Six Region 2 chambers
are installed as well as 1 Region 3 chamber (maybe 2 after today) and also
the Region 1 prototype is installed. Many of the cables have been routed.
In less than four weeks the beam run starts. In that time we will instrument
sector 5 of both region 2 and 3 as well as the region 1 prototype.
We will also need to turn on the chambers, re-condition them, and fully
check them out. Add to this a variety of tasks such as helping check out
the gas system, setting up the pulser calibration system, helping set up
the DAQ and the trigger systems, etc. We have plenty to do and all of us
can contribute. How much can YOU contribute? If everyone can take on
the order of 8 shifts (of 8 hours) we can probably cover the shifts.
In general, it's expected that there should be at least 1 drift chamber
expert on shift from 8 am to 12 midnight from about Nov. 18 to Dec. 4.
During the beam run (Dec 5 - 11) our group should provide a person
round the clock. I'm trying to organize this chaos - so send me a note
indicating when you can be here. I'll try to find something for you
to do!
