FRIDAY and SATURDAY, JAN. 10 - 11, 1997
NOTE: Friday we will hear PROGRESS REPORTS, and Saturday COMMISSIONING PLANS
FRIDAY: PROGRESS REPORTS
2:30 Gas System - Wayne Major and Mike Vineyard
Progress report on the operational aspects of the gas system: mixing, filtering,
monitoring and recirculation. The talk will cover readiness of pressure and
flow control, calibration of mixing and monitoring instruments and cleanliness
of the system. The talk will also cover the readiness of the gas control
system. Issues regarding choice of gas mixture and additives will be discussed
on Saturday.
3:00 Laser calibration system - Ross Hicks
Progress and schedule for the laser calib. system and preliminary results.
3:15 R1 assembly and installation - Reinhard Schumacher
3:35 R2 post-installation issues - Larry Weinstein
3:50 R3 installation - Steve Christo
The drift chamber installation reports should cover several items:
installation schedule, pre-installation work (cabling, leak-checking, etc.),
post-installation checks (cable connections, etc.) as well as survey plans.
4:05 Off-chamber instrumentation - Amrit Yegneswaran
This report will summarize work plans to install the ADB and TDC crates and
modules and the low voltage and high voltage supplies and distribution panels.
4:30 ADB system status - Fernando Barbosa
Status of procurement and results of bench-testing ADB, TCI and MUX boards
as well as a schedule for deployment of entire system.
4:45 Pulse calibration and DAQ testing - Dave Tedeschi
Results of pulsing tests of ADB/TDC system including data readout using
CODA 2.0 and secondary readout lists.
5:05 On-line software issues - Jim Mueller
Plans and current status of on-line monitoring of drift chamber operation.
5:20 Off-line software issues - Jerry Gilfoyle
Progress and status of off-line reconstruction code including calibration
initialization, track finding and fitting and matching of tracks to outer
detector. Time allowed for discussion.
6:00 Results of December commissioning - Dan Carman
Summary of chamber studies including determination of threshold values
and high voltage operating points as well as results of background studies.
SATURDAY: COMMISSIONING
8:30 Signal checking and threshold setting - Dan Carman
Plans to insure proper connectivity of signal, low voltage and high
voltage cables by checking chamber signals as well as plans to determine
and set proper discriminator thresholds.
8:50 Gas additive bubbler - Rich Thompson
Progress on R1 bubbler and discussion of extension to other regions.
9:05 Gas Mixture - Mac Mestayer
Plans to run a non-flammable gas mixture for the spring run. Discussion will
include constraints on the drift velocity, gain characteristics and quenching
properties of possible gas mixtures. Work required to decide on best
gases, mix ratios.
9:30 Chamber check-out and commissioning tests - Steve Dytman
Outline of plan to set operating parameters and determine chamber performance,
including hardware and sofware prerequisites. Emphasis will be on procedures
including time-order. After a brief (15 min) presentation, discussion ensues.
