Drift Chamber Group;

We are ALMOST ready for the upcoming September run. I need everyone's help:
first, in participating in the September drift chamber meeting, and
second, in participating in the September run itself. All signs indicate that
this will be a successful run, but as usual, there are a lot of last-minute
things to do.

- CLAS meeting: the drift chamber group will have a technical working group meeting
on Saturday afternoon, September 6. The major emphasis of the meeting will be
readiness for the September run, specifically regarding procedures and monitoring.

At this meeting we will discuss the following two points:
1) what are the procedures which non-expert shift takers must follow to turn
drift chamber HV on/off and to monitor the drift chamber performance?
2) what automatic processes should be in place to facilitate this monitoring?

In addition, we can also have some brief progress reports on some of the following:
- hit quality monitoring
- electronics (incl. cables) monitoring
- tracking monitoring
- other?

- Drift chamber expert SHIFTS: this is our last commissioning run, so it will be
necessary to cover the shifts with drift chamber experts. Please let me know
when you can be available to cover shifts during the period between September 17
and October 8. An average of 3 - 4 shifts per person should be sufficient.
Remember, one of the goals of this run is to develop robust procedures so that
non-experts can run and monitor the chambers.

happy tracks, Mac
