Minutes for the the 4/23/97 off-line analysis meeting:

General Issues:
---------------

It was decided that a CLAS offline list server would be
established to disseminate information relevant to off-line
analysis. To subscribe send email to mailserv@cebaf.gov
containing (in the text of the message):
subscribe clas_offline

It was also decided that an off-line web page would be created and
maintained, current documentation for software packages would
be stored in this page including:

- a list of TCL variables used in each of the detector
packages, their function, and default values

- Documentation for various software used in
the CLAS collaboration including cvs, and
calibration database.

Since the meeting a CLAS off-line web page has been established its
location is:
http://www.cebaf.gov/~manak/offline.html
a link to this page on the CLAS home page is also available under
Data Reduction and Analysis.

All people are free to add links and modify this page, - especially
people responsible for software libraries (to set up documentation
pages). The source for the web page (on disk) is located in
~manak/public_html/offline.html and can be modified there.

It was felt there was a need to assign various individuals
to function as on-site contact persons for each software library,
these individuals will have the following responsibilities:

1) To oversee the move from RCS to CVS for their library

2) To coordinate code development within their library, including
the upgrade to use the calibration database (if appropriate)

3) To disseminate information concerning the operation of their
respective libraries, including TCL variables and
calibration database files necessary for the operation
of the code (via the mail-server and web page).

4) To make sure the code in each library conforms to CLAS
software standards (Stephan will update and distribute
the note defining CLAS software standards)

5) To clean up useless and obsolete code within their library

A list of these individuals is available on the new CLAS offline Web page.
Note: People working on various software libraries should notify
the contact person or send mail to the mail server when major changes
to the software are made.

Mapmanager:
----------

A discussion of the mapmanager database took place, the mapmanager
is located in cvs under packages/Map and can be compiled on Sun,
IBM, HP, and Linux platforms. A working version of the library is
located in $CLAS_LIB/libmapmanger.a (CLAS_LIB as defined by onsite.cshrc)
under packages/cms. To use the library calls just include the library
in your library path when you compile. Documentation exists on the
new web page under Software Libraries and in the cvs repository.

DC library:
-----------

Francois presented a change to the dc code to allow the use of
a new (and better) roads file. To analyze test run data the TCL variable
prline_file_name should be set to link_50_75_full.bos. This file
is located in the $CLAS_PARMS area. Francois is working on a document
outlining the dc analysis. Next week, Wends. Francois will be heading
the Tracking (DC analysis/software) meeting at 1:30PM in room L207.

In the future, the minutes of this meeting will only be sent to
the clas_offline mail-server and archived on the CLAS offline web page.
(my apologies if you get this message twice).
