I noticed a peculiar thing under cvs:
The command "cvs update packages" does not update all files to their
latest version. This caused me some trouble trying to compile the Map
directory under Linux. The problem was helped by "cvs checkout packages"
which got me the very latest version of the "Makefile".
I have no idea why this is so, but I suggest that if things don't appear
to work as they should, try "cvs checkout packages" and get a fresh copy
of the entire tree.
