Minutes for the 5/14/97 off-line analysis meeting:

General Issues:
---------------

A discussion took place about the appropriate use of the
clas-offline list. Some people felt that the list was becoming
too technical, while others felt the need for a forum to discuss
the details of the off-line software. A consensus emerged that
the off-line list should be used to announce major changes in
software libraries, announce new builds of development and
production libraries and items of general interest to the off-line.
Specific technical questions and problems should be addressed to the
contact persons for the various libraries. It was also suggested
that people interested in the details of the software could
move their discussion to the CLAS Software and computing
newsgroups.

RECSIS updates:
- The CC library has been fixed and should now work on
Linux
- The run number in RECSIS is now no longer set
to one for every event (write manak@cebaf.gov for
details)
- The CLAS_PARMS area is being cleaned up! if you put
junk in the area please delete/move it!
- The mapmanager witching hour is Monday eve.! after that
point in time you must have the mapmanager library
at you site if you want to make a development
version of RECSIS.

Ls:
---

Kevin Beard gave a description of his ls hit matching library. For
details you can check the web page (link available from the off-line
page
under Libraries):
http://www.cebaf.gov/~beard/Ls/
Very briefly, ls is a general package that allows one to make
relationships
between various BOS banks, its intended use is for particle id and
event reconstruction.

Offline shift Czar:
-------------------

Will Brooks will coordinate off-line shifts. The intent is for
people to quickly analyze data as it is being taken to provide input for
the detector groups and people running the shifts. Discussion topics
included; the types of information we would like to examine, a list
of people who would be available for shifts and resources needed to
perform this analysis. Will is currently consulting with the computer
center to obtain additional computer resources for our upcoming run.
