Hi all,
In addition to the scaler for singles in each T counter of the tagger, one wants
also to have for the normalisation, coincidences between tagger and pair
spectrometer or pair counter or total absorption counter.
Following is the schematic of the logic we would like to implement to make
coincidences between tagger T and the downstream devices (DSD) for the scalers.
These coincidences are done on the forward carriage by vetoing discriminator
inputs of the T scaler by the reverse output of DSD's trigger signal.
Due to the fact that we have 2 sets of 4 vme scalers but 3 coincidences for
calibration, the design is a little bit complicated. It is programmable through
masks on a camac 2313 discriminator. Although there is an associated overhead in
time, there should be no problem to put both T counter and veto signal in time.
(without logic, veto signals arrive early compare to T counter).

We have designed it for 5 types of 2 simultaneous coincidences :
Pair counter-tag and pair counter delayed-tag ( for accidentals)
Pair counter-tag and pair spectrometer-tag ( for cross-checking of the 2
devices)
Pair counter-tag and total absorption counter-tag (for calibration)
Pair spectrometer-tag and total absorption counter-tag (for calibration)
Pair spectrometer-tag and PS delayed-tag ( for accidentals)

Associated with this mail one can find a schematic showing the detailled cabling
of this setup-up.

We miss a few items to implement it :
_ a NIM to ECL converter. (NIM unit, I pressume)
_ 90 lemo cables of 4ns.

Another issue is to take into account the dead time of the acquisition. This can
be done by faning out the busy output of the trigger supervisor which does
account for the dead time and use this signal to veto vme scalers.
The output of the trigger supervisor is ECL single ended. It can be converted to
NIM then it should go into a NIM fan out with one input and 12 outputs.
Where could we find this fan out unit? (do the laser calibration electronics
use all the channels of their fan out unit in the NIM crate above the scalers in
C2-10?)
