I would like to make an epics area under /apps on the fileserver to
keep the Hall B epics stuff until we can fully switch to clas10. I had
hoped to avoid this quasi-permanent installation on the file server,
but I keep running into snags getting clas10 to serve as an EPICS
development node (see my the previous note to you about the C++
compiler).
Presently all of our EPICS stuff is under
/usr/site2/epics_physics/hallb
and my understanding is that all of the /usr/sitex areas will
disappear someday. I propose moving most of these files to areas under
/apps/epicsB
The "B" is to distinguish our EPICS applications from those of the
other Halls and from the accelerator. Each Hall has a distinct way of
handling their EPICS directories.
The one problem that this does not address directly is that all of
these files count under my personal disk quota (that of "marki"),
since both the /usr/site2 files and the prospective /apps files live
on the fileserver. Perhaps I should work from a different account when
dealing with the /apps stuff, say a new account called "epicsb". The
username "epics" is already being used by Johnny Tang. Any thoughts
along these lines?
