Upcoming EG1 Rungroup Meeting

Dear EG1 runners,

We will hold a general meeting on the afternoon of the N* meeting
which is presently planned for Sunday morning, January 11 (see Ralph
Minehart's message). The main point of the meeting is to have an
"internal" readiness review in preparation for the Readiness Review
that is required of us before the end of January if we want to run
in the tentatively assigned slot (second half of 1998).
The agenda is not cast in stone yet (please send in your request,
offers for speeches etc.), but it's obvious we will have to look
especially carefully at all issues having to do with the target and
beam line. I will try to minimize duplication with the CLAS collaboration
meeting, so we might get away without a Moeller talk (I saw one
planned for the main meeting). This leaves us with roughly the
following topics:

1) Polarized beam: prospects, possible disasters, and energies for 2/3 hall
running (including a discussion of not-quite-longitudinal spin).
2) Polarized target. Status, design work, unfinished business,...
3) Beam line. Monitors, rastering, shielding, beamline redesign (including
new target position), and focussing/misalignment/multiple scattering.
4) Readiness review, simulations, other items as needed.

We will probably start around 1:30. However, we can also learn important
lessons from the N* meeting, so I expect many of you will want to attend
both.

Hope to see you there. Have a happy and hopefully refreshing semester break.
