EC reconstruction

Here is just one thought about a particular aspect of the reconstruction
in EC that may be relevant for defining the ECRB.
It seems to me that dividing the hit/shower reconstruction in an early
stage into "inner" and "outer" hits maybe not such a good idea. There is always
the possiblity that all the energy is lost in the inner or outer portions,
or that only two strips are firing in one portion (late/early photon
conversions). In the present implementation it has the potential that
information is lost at the "shower" level. This could be avoided if in
the first pass analysis the inner and outer strips are summed up and
then subjected to a hit analysis. The "Dalitz condition" can then be
applied to the total stack, quite safely without risking the loss of
events. At this level hits=showers. This way no information will be lost
at the shower level.
The separation into inner and outer hits and a more involved analysis
can then be performed at the shower level to make a decisison about
electron/pion or photon/neutron candidates.
