Hi Sandy,
As I recall the status of the issue, we had not found a
solution within the CUE which was as satisfactory as the
present situation. Presently we have a disk which a number
of people can access, with no quotas attached, and which
has a very fast connection (20 Mbytes/second is what I
remember) to a computer which this same group of people
use to access the data; and the disk is backed up. In the
CUE system, I remember two solutions: 1) a single person has
a very large quota to cover that disk, and other people use
the disk; in that case it is backed up, and 2) we could use
the /work area, in which case there is no quota but the space
is not backed up; in both of these scenarios I assume the
disk access rate is not as fast, and is influenced by the
network traffic.
Unless there is a solution within CUE which does not present
the above hindrances to the work of our group, I do not see
a good reason to make this transition. Has there been any
progress along these lines.
