Research Staff Position in Experimental Nuclear/High Energy Physics
Nuclear/High Energy Physics Center of Excellence at Hampton University

The Nuclear/High Energy Physics (NuHEP) Research Center of Excellence at
Hampton University invites applications for a Research Scientist in the field
of experimental intermediate energy nuclear or particle physics. The work of
the three experimental faculty and two experimental adjunct-faculty members
presently at the NuHEP Center is focused at the closeby Thomas Jefferson
National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab), with a modest involvement
also at other national laboratories such as Brookhaven and NIKHEF. The
experimental program concentrates on the areas of hypernuclear studies and
hadronic structure.

During the past five years NuHEP personnel have been largely involved in the
construction and commissioning of Hall C at Jefferson Lab, and have been
leading two of the first six running experiments in Hall C. At present NuHEP
personnel are spokespersons of five more approved and two more conditionally-
approved experiments at Jefferson Lab.

The successful candidate is expected to collaborate in the activities of the
NuHEP Center, to supervise undergraduate and graduate research students, and
to supervise the computer network at the Center.

Several years of experience in experimental physics beyond the Ph.D. degree
are required. Women and minority candidates are strongly urged to apply.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and
a one-page statement of research/career goals. In addition, the applicant
should have three letters of reference sent to:

Prof. Warren W. Buck, Director
NuHEP Center
