POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
EXPERIMENTAL NUCLEAR PHYSICS
UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

The Experimental Nuclear Physics Group at the University of Maryland
invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position to begin
about October, 1997. Our group currently consists of five teaching faculty,
two Research Scientists, and five graduate students. We are primarily
involved in electroweak physics experiments at Jefferson Lab and MIT-Bates.
Some of the proposed and approved experiments at Jefferson Lab are
measurements of parity violation in polarized electron scattering from 4He
and from the nucleon (G0), studies of the structure of nucleon resonances
through measurements of the final state nucleon polarization in
electroproduction of pi and eta mesons on nucleons, and the study of
hypernuclei through the electroproduction of kaons from nuclei. The group
also participates in a variety of other Hall A and Hall C experiments. At
MIT-Bates members of the group participate in the parity violation SAMPLE
experiment and measurements of GEn. We are particularly interested in
candidates who will reside at Jefferson laboratory and support that program.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics. The
appointment will be initially for one year, with possible renewal for up to
two additional years upon mutual agreement and availability of funds.
Applicants should submit a resume, summary of research interests and arrange
to have three letters of recommendation sent to:
