Experimental Postdoctoral Fellow

Laser-induced Plasma Wakefield Acceleration

Hampton University

Applications are now being accepted for a Postdoctoral Fellow's position
in the Nuclear/High Energy Physics (NuHEP) Research Center of Excellence
at Hampton University. The successful applicant will work on the wakefield
acceleration of electrons in partnership with the Center for Ultrfast
Optical Science (CUOS) at the University of Michigan, the Research Center
for Optical Physics (RCOP) at Hampton University, and with scientists at
Jefferson Lab. Electron beam characterization and optimization of laser
instrumentation needed to generate the beam will be the primary focus of
the research.

The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. degree in nuclear physics,
accelerator physics, or optical physics and will be able to travel between
Michigan and Virginia. This effort potentially represents a breakthrough
in creating a new technology for high energy electron acceleration. The
position is for a two year period, funded through a grant from the National
Science Foundation.

Arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent by persons who are
familiar with your work, a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae sent
to:
