Postdoctoral Positions in Nuclear/Particle Theory
TRIUMF Theory Group
It is anticipated that there will be several positions as Postdoctoral
Research Associate available in the Theory Group at TRIUMF to start in
September 1998. Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. degree
within the past five years in some area of relevance to the TRIUMF
program and should show evidence or promise of ability to carry out
high quality research. At least one position this year will be for a
person who can provide theoretical support for the program at ISAC,
the radioactive beam facility now under construction at TRIUMF, and so
candidates with experience in nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics,
etc. are particularly encouraged to apply. Several other positions
will also be available for individuals specializing in other areas of
intermediate energy, nuclear or particle physics. An important
qualification for final selection will be the way the candidate's
detailed interests and experience complement and balance the present
theoretical effort at TRIUMF.
Duties consist of research, either independently or in collaboration
with members of the Theory Group, which currently consists of four
staff members, about eight research associates, and several long term
visitors.
Appointments are for two years and are renewed annually. Minimum
annual salary will be $34,500, usual university benefits apply, and
travel to conferences is possible. Interested candidates should send
a resume including a list of publications and have three letters of
reference sent, by December 15, 1997 to:
Dr. Harold W. Fearing,
Group Leader, TRIUMF Theory Group,
TRIUMF,
