ASSISTANT RESEARCH PROFESSOR
EXPERIMENTAL NUCLEAR PHYSICS
THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

The Department of Physics of The George Washington University has
an opening for an Assistant Research Professor in Experimental
Nuclear Physics for a three-year term, starting September 1,
1998. We seek a person for this non-tenure-accruing faculty
position who will be concerned with our experimental program in
Hall B at Jefferson Lab. This program mainly involves experiments
with tagged-photon beams, both unpolarized and polarized. The
primary experimental skills necessary for this position are
expertise in data acquisition and data analysis, but experience
with nuclear particle and radiation detectors is also very
valuable. In addition to research activities, the holder of this
position will teach one course per semester or the equivalent.
This position is intended for a person having a few years of
experience in experimental nuclear physics beyond the Ph.D.
degree. Prior experience in medium-energy nuclear physics,
electromagnetic interactions, and/or few-body nuclei is
essential.

Each applicant should send a curriculum vitae and a one-page
statement of his or her research/career goals, and have three
letters of reference sent to
