POST DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
OHIO UNIVERSITY / CEBAF
The Department of Physics at Ohio University invites applications from
experimentalists interested in doing research at the CEBAF Large
Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) in Hall B at the Thomas Jefferson
National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab). CLAS is a multiparticle
detector based on a superconducting toroidal magnet with large drift
chambers, time-of-flight counters, gas Cerenkov counters and electromagnetic
calorimeters. The CLAS detector is now taking data for approved physics
experiments. The particular physics interest of the Ohio University group
is kaon electroproduction.
The post-doctoral research associate position to be located on-site at
Jefferson Lab. The position requires a Ph.D. in experimental subatomic
physics. The successful candidate will participate in the initial
experiments including analysis of calibrations and data relevant to kaon
electroproduction. Demonstrated experience in hardware and software
aspects of large acceptance detectors is preferred. The position will be
for a one year term initially, with the possibility of extension for one
or more additional years. The salary will be competative with similar
post-doctoral positions in Hall B.
Interested candidates should send curriculum vitae and three letters of
reference by February 1, 1998 to:
