POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
EXPERIMENTAL NUCLEAR PHYSICS
UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS, AMHERST
The Experimental Nuclear Physics Group at The University of
Massachusetts, Amherst has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research
Associate starting as early as March 1, 1998. The group has three
faculty, two postdoctoral research associates, three or more
graduate students, and several undergraduates. Excellent technical
and theoretical support is available. The successful candidate

Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) at Jefferson Lab and will reside
in that vicinity. The group has several approved experiments on
CLAS which include tests of the chiral anomaly, the N->Delta axial
form factor, and multihadron studies on few body systems. New
initiatives are welcome, and participation in other experiments
of the group at SLAC (spin-structure) and Bates (out-of-plane
virtual Compton scattering) is encouraged.
A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics is required.
Candidates experienced in using large solid angle detectors, or drift
chambers and readout electronics, data acquisition (CODA), slow controls
(EPICS), or data analysis and simulation for large detectors, are
especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should send a curriculum
vitae, a description of research interests, and arrange for three
letters of recommendation to be sent to:
