We are organizing a meeting of the "8 GeV and Beyond" working group, to be held
in conjunction with the upcoming Hall A Meeting at JLab on April 2-4. The
purpose of this meeting will be to:
- discuss interesting physics ideas that can be done in Hall A with >8 GeV.
- discuss possible instrumentation enhancements for Hall A to enable us to
the interesting physics we desire.
- provide some direction for the upcoming meeting this summer (June 15-18).
Based on the topics discussed at earlier meetings, such as the "Workshop on
CEBAF at Higher Energies" (1994), a few possibilities which could be covered
here are:
- elastic form factor measurements of pions, nucleons, deuteron, etc.
- semi-inclusive and exclusive measurements in the deep inelastic scattering
region.
- constituent counting rule tests.
- studies of color transparency and hadronization via (e,e'J/psi).
- measurements of spin-dependent structure functions.
In addition to updating the recent progress in the above fields, we would also
like to hear your input on any new physics ideas that may become feasible with
this increase in beam energy. Please let us know if you have any suggestions
(and volunteers!) you may have for people/specific-topics for the meeting.
