Dear Photofission collaborators:
Since we did not obtain publishable data during the last run because of
the obstruction in the beamline, we need to reschedule the run. After
several conversations and a meeting of the GW and CUA groups, it now
appears that the best time is March, 1998, running with Halls A and C as
well (but, we hope, in stable mode, with many accelerator and
safety-systems improvements done in January). This is a 12-day period,
which should be enough both to finish the commissioning of the Tagger and
run Photofission at both 1.6 and 4.0 GeV. We have been promised that e1
will not run beyond their scheduled cutoff time on Feb 28, which will give
us sufficient time to change from electrons to photons and to set up
photofission. If all goes well (this has got to happen sooner or later!),
g1 will begin on time, with the Tagger and all beamline devices fully
operational, on April 3, at 2.4 GeV.

There will be a small meeting at JLab on Mon Sept 29 at 2 pm to discuss
the planning and execution of this run. If you are interested in
attending, please contact me or Bernhard. Thanks.

Best regards,
Barry
