Dear Photofission folks:
Please note the message from Bernhard. We shall discuss the implications
at our group meeting at Catholic U. on Monday morning, and I'll keep you
informed as to our conclusions.
Until then, Cheers, Barry

SUBJECT: Near-term Hall B Schedule

DATE: 6-March-1998

We are presently running the first period of the e1 run. After completing the
1.6 and 2.4 GeV settings, e1 switched to a beam energy of 4 GeV last Friday
(February 27, 1998). Due to a combination of circumstances (accelerator
availability and data acquisition speed lower than expected) it has become clear
that the goal of the 4 GeV section of the e1 run to obtain publishable data will
not be reached within the present time constraints. Therefore, I have sent a
memo to the Nuclear Physics Experiment Scheduling Committee yesterday requesting
that the e1 run be extended till March 17, 1998 (8:00 a.m.). This request has
been granted. The maintenance day will remain, as originally scheduled, on March
10. The conversion of the Hall B setup to tagged photon running will start March
17; the start of the Hall B tagged photon commissioning is expected for March
26. The late start-up of the tagger commissioning will be partially compensated
for by using the facility development period that has been scheduled from March
28-31 for physics running (unless there is some extremely urgent accelerator
development necessary).

Arne Freyberger has put together a detailed schedule for the activities in Hall
B during the periods when the hall will be open. Please consult
http://claspc1.cebaf.gov/schedule for more information.
