JEFFERSON LAB SEMINAR
Hosted By Theory Group

"Quark-antiquark Bethe Salpeter equation, Dyson-Schwinger equation and
Goldstone theorem in a Wilson loop approach"

Speaker: Giovanni M. Prosperi
Physics Department, University of Milan (Italy)

The first part of the seminar is a short review of previous work. It
concerns the Feynman-Schwinger representation for a "second order" gauge
invariant quark-antiquark Green function in terms of the Wilson loop alone,
the so called Modified Area Law (MAL) model for the evaluation of the
Wilson loop and a discussion of the resulting "second order" Bethe-Salpeter
equation. The consequences of this last equation in terms of heavy quark
potential and light meson Regge trajectories are also recalled.

The second part concerns work in progress and intends to be a preliminary
account. It is considered the Dyson-Schwinger equation for an uncolored
second order quark propagator resulting from the above treatment and it is
shown how the MAL model has to be better formulated in order to make the
formalism consistent with the Goldstone theorem in the zero quark mass
limit.
