CryoTarget Commissioning: Schedule Tonight!

Hello All!

Status of the Target system is... not too bad!

There were leaks in two of the three loops. These have been fixed.
Scattering chamber has since been pumped down satisfactorily
(After external leaks were found and fixed ) and has since been
re-opened for the target-position survey. The Survey also has
now been finished.

Next step in the commissioning is the 'cool down' of the target.
This is scheduled to start Thursday. There is, of course, still
a chance for cold-leaks to be found at this stage.

Assuming no cold-leaks found, the schedule will be slid 2(two) days.

What effect will this have on commissioning? On the Shift Schedule?

All of the commissioning experiments will be slide by the length the
same two days. I.e. We were scheduled to have beam on Monday, September 29
through Monday morning October 6. Now we are scheduled to have beam to
the target Wednesday October 1 through Wednesday AM October 8.

What of the Shift Schedule?

Due to the constraints people have on the the shifts they *can* work,
we will change this as little as possible. The shift schedule people
have sent in so far, WILL STAND AS IS. The only changes that can/will
be made to it is to cancel the shifts for the first two days, and
ask for additional shifts for the new days tacked on the end.

It is possible at this time, with the efforts everyone is putting in
to the target, we may be able to gain back one day. In light of this,
Only shifts on Monday, September 29 are canceled. The 00:00-08:00 shift
on Tuesday is also canceled. All other Tuesday shifts (08:00 - 24:00)
are still enforce. Please show up for these shifts.
(These may be canceled at the last moment, however those on these shifts
should plan on showing up unless told otherwise)

At this time, we need to fill the extra days we gained when for
the shift in the commissioning. Please send me your shift availability
for October 8, and October 9.

The shift schedule will be posted late tonight.

Thankyou,

Gary
