UNIX Analyst Staff Position

Jefferson Lab is seeking a UNIX Analyst to support computing and batch
processing environments for experiments. The successful candidate will
have experience with UNIX system administration, code development,
Web applications, and other network services plus excellent verbal and
good written communications skills.

As a member of the Jefferson Lab Computer Center, this position will
provide assistance to experimenters and other users of the Jefferson Lab
Common UNIX Environment and batch processing facilities, administer the
Jefferson Lab Web server and NetNews installations, coordinate
on-line documentation and computer training, and participate in other
UNIX development activities.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Computer
Science or related field and 2-3 years' experience programming in and/or
managing UNIX-based systems in a scientific research or engineering
environment. A degree in physics and experience in supporting physicists
working in a research environment would be considered a plus.

Other desirable background includes experience with:

o managing AIX, HP-UX and Solaris operating systems,

o writing UNIX scripts and developing codes in a UNIX environment
using the C and Fortran programming languages,

o installing and managing of World Wide Web and NetNews servers,

o developing documents for Web applications and viewing,

o carrying out common UNIX system administrative tasks and components
including network utilities and X-Windows devices and configurations,

o programing in C++, CGI and Java, and

o supporting UNIX users.
