Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the Research
Support Group at the MIT Bates Linear Accelerator Center. Duties of the group
include support of existing experimental programs in the areas of cryogenic
target operations, data acquisition, and spectrometer systems. Other group
tasks include survey and alignment of detector and beamline elements, magnetic
measurements, and support of the Accelerator Physics Group in operation of the
accelerator, beamlines and the South Hall Ring. The successful candidate will
be expected to take responsibility for the Laboratory's cryogenic systems,
including targets and superconducting solenoids, in the areas of operation,
maintenance and development. Experience with vacuum systems, automated
controls systems and 20K cryogenic systems are desirable.

operation, fabrication and repair of drift chambers, scintillation and Cerenkov
detectors. Experience with modern computer assisted survey techniques including
Geonet, Clash and SIMS are extremely desirable. The candidate must have
experience in programming, fault diagnosing and the operation of a real-time
data acquisition system. Some experience in accelerator operation and
diagnostics are desirable. Familiarity with typical physics and engineering
modeling computer codes such as GEANT and AUTOCAD are desirable. This position
