POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION
EXPERIMENTAL NUCLEAR STRUCTURE PHYSICS
OAK RIDGE ASSOCIATED UNIVERSITIES
The University Radioactive Ion Beam Consortium (UNIRIB) of the Oak Ridge
Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) of the Oak Ridge Associated
Universities (ORAU), is seeking to fill a postdoctoral research position in
experimental nuclear structure physics.
Oak Ridge Associated Universities, operates the Oak Ridge Institute for
Science and Education through a management and operating contract with
the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
Individuals must have experience in nuclear structure and nuclear
spectroscopy. The successful candidate will participate in the UNIRIB
research program (a consortium of 13 universities) at the Holifield
Radioactive Ion Beam Facility (HRIBF) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory
(ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This unique facility, a new Department of
Energy (DOE) program initiative under development at ORNL, is scheduled to
begin operation in Fall, 1996. General information about the HRIBF is
available on the World Wide Web, http://www.phy.ornl.gov/hribf/hribf.html.
The UNIRIB consortium offers an excellent environment for nuclear structure
research which includes close collaboration with leading university based
nuclear structure groups, laboratory based research groups, a leading
nuclear structure theory group, and numerous guests (national and
international) of the Joint Institute for Heavy Ion Research (JIHIR) which
is also located at ORNL. The resources of the Nuclear Data Project and
state of the art computational facilities are also available.
Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, bibliography, a
statement of research interests, and have four letters of reference sent
directly to:
