POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN EXPERIMENTAL NUCLEAR PHYSICS
LABORARORY FOR NUCLEAR SCIENCE MIT
MEDIUM ENERGY RESEARCH GROUP
The medium energy research group is engaged in a number of experimental
programs at Bates, JLab, Mainz, DESY and LANL. Two of these programs
have opportunities for postdocs in experimental nuclear or particle
physics. One is an experiment to measure parity violation in electron
scattering from hydrogen at Bates and the other is to measure the tensor
moments of recoiling deuterons in elastic scattering of electrons from
deuterium at JLab. Both of these experiments are scheduled to run in 1997
and the succesful candidates will be expected to participate in the
set up of the apparatus, data taking and data analysis. One indvidual
will be expected to be resident for much of 1997 at JLab and the other
at Bates.
We seek individuals with recent Ph. D's and experience in accelerator
based experimental physics. Both hardware and software skills with data
aquisition and experimental control are required; experience with
cryogenic hydrogen targets and beam optics would be an asset.
The appointments are initially for one year, but may be extended for
up to three years by mutual agreement, and subject to the availability
of funds. Candidates should send a C.V. and arrange for three letters
of recommendation to be sent to:
