TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS
EXPERIMENTAL MEDIUM ENERGY NUCLEAR PHYSICS
FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
Florida International University, a part of the state university system
located in suburban Miami, has entered into an agreement with Jefferson Lab
(CEBAF) which will lead to an 11 member group in particle and nuclear
physics. This group currently has four experimentalists and 3 theoreticians.
The Department of Physics invites applications for three tenure-track
faculty positions in experimental and theoretical areas related to the
physics program of Jefferson Lab to start in August, 1997, at ranks
appropriate to candidates' qualifications. Successful candidates will be
expected to have a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate
and graduate levels as well as to supervision of graduate student thesis
research.
Under the FIU/JLab agreement, each of these positions will carry release
time to support the creation of a strong research effort at Jefferson Lab.
These candidates are therefore expected to attract external funding for
their research efforts.
Currently the department has theoretical and experimental groups in
astronomy, atomic- molecular-optical, biophysics, nuclear, polymer,
quantum-optics, and solid state physics.
Complete resumes, three letters of reference, and a summary of research
interests should be sent to:
