Walt,
good thing you sent out the mail since I was about to invent
something like this myself (with Jie's help of course!). I have a few
questions/comments.
Firstly is it necessary to have the scrip filename in the ddl? I would like to
have a generic service to which I could send CDEV data with a structure very
similar to yours but having the filename specified as part of the data.
I am working on a "state machine" editor which will generate (at first)
scripts from state diagrams. The state machines would use CDEV as their sole
form of communication with the world. Well all this is too complicated to
discuss here but it looks like your script service is part way towards the
beast that would start up the script and feed CDEV data to it. Perhaps we can
meet (Jie, Chip, Walt and I) to throw ideas about. As you know I am trying to
gather together enough CDEV services/gateways to glue CODA and EPICS into a
coherent data acquisition environment.
