NCD-USERS: Netscape 3.01 / HP-UX / ncd 88k rapid emory loss

We recently upgraded our netscape browsers to version 3.01 and were
unpleasantly surprised when most of our 88K (19c, 17c, etc) machines
quickly experienced complete loss of memory availability and crashed
when the next new job tried to open a window.

We have found that this seemed to be primarily a problem on the HP-UX
version of netscape 3.01, but I think is merely much more serious on these
platforms. We are not having the serious problem when running the
browser on SparkUltra(SuN) or AIX(IBM) platforms.

Let me repeat, this is ONLY happening on X terminals and most of ours >200
are NCD units , either 88k or HMX.

support (ncd) has suggested that it has to do with memory requests
and allocations.

If any one has encountered this problem and solved it recently, please
give us the benefit of your experience.

I have tried to disble backing store, but that did not seem to have much
effect. the terminals still crashed.
