Offsite connectivity to the Internet was removed due to security problems
on Friday, Aug. 22 (See news message 118 for details). The projected
time to restore Wide Area Network connectivity is Wed morning, 9:00 am.
An ALL STAFF memo has just been distributed to provide users with
instructions about (1) getting their NEW PASSWORD that will take effect
on WED MORNING, 8/27, 9:00 am. and (2) registering the IP address for
any PC, Mac, X terminal, or Workstation they are responsible for. Extra
forms are available at the following locations: Lobbies of CEBAF Center,
VARC, EEL, Test Lab, MCC. Computer Center staff will be available at
the following locations/times to issue new passwords and register IP nodes:
MON Aug 25 1:00-2:00 CEBAF Center Lobby EEL (near door to CEBAF Ctr)
2:05-3:00 Trailer City Lobby Test Lab Lobby
3:05-4:00 VARC Lobby MCC Lobby
TUE Aug 25 9:00-10:00 CEBAF Center Lobby EEL (near door to CEBAF Ctr)
10:05-11:00 Trailer City Lobby Test Lab Lobby
11:05-12:00 VARC Lobby MCC Lobby
NT PASSWORDS: Passwords on the central NT servers (CCNT1) and Business
Services Novell systems will EXPIRED at 8:00 am WED Morning. Instructions
will be distributed TUESDAY AUG 26 to instruct users on how to log in
and change their password on these systems.
