Farm/Silo and Hurricane Isabel

Yesterday,  Monday (9/15), the Computer Center began preparing for
a Tuesday (9/16) shutdown of the batch farm, work and cache file servers,
and the tape silo.  As part of the preparation, the batch farm queues 
stopped
dispatching new jobs to the batch farm on Monday night.  This was done to
allow time for the running jobs to complete successfully.  

New jobs are being accepted but held in the queues in a pending state. 
 If the
farm is shutdown, the pending jobs will NOT be lost.

Lab management is meeting later today to discuss the latest predictions 
of the
hurricane and any outstanding issues regarding the shutdown of the lab. 
 Plans to
shutdown the farm and silo today at 10am have been put on hold pending the
outcome of this meeting.
