Upcoming Maintenance

RedHat Enterprise Linux update:
     Root is now compiled and running on EL3. There are currently two
     versions available with root-3.10-02-gcc3.2.3 as the default. To use
     root-3.05-07-gcc3.2.3, type "use root/3.05-07".

     Cernlib versions 2002 and 2003 are also available on enterprise Linux.
     Type "use cernlib/2002" to have cernlib 2002 added to your path and
     "use cernlib/2003" for cernlib 2003.

Farm job submissions will be turned off during the day on Tuesday while
we upgrade to a new version of LSF. Jobs will continue to run during this
time, but no new jobs will be allowed.

Computer Center maintenance will be performed on Tuesday, February 3, 2004.
There are several items of importance for Scientific Computing users
occurring
during this maintenance period listed below. For the full maintenance
list, see
http://cc.jlab.org/announce/status.html.

     Cache9, cache21 and cache22 will be renamed to sfs32, sfs21, and sfs22
     respectively. The work and cache areas they export will also be
renamed as
     follows:
		cache9:/cache901   -->    sfs32:/export/work3201
		cache21:/cache2101 -->    sfs21:/export/cache2101
		cache21:/cache2102 -->    sfs21:/export/work2101
		cache22:/cache2201 -->    sfs22:/export/cache2201
		cache22:/cache2202 -->    sfs22:/export/work2201
     If you mount any of these areas on your systems, you will need to
modify the
     mount commands in /etc/fstab or /etc/auto.xxx to point to the new
areas.

     CUE web servers will no longer be mounting work or cache areas. If
you depend
     on access to work or cache from www.jlab.org, or any other web
server, please
     move those dependencies to the appropriate group area.

     Jlabs2 and jlabl1 will no longer have access to the work or cache
areas.  All access
     to the work or cache areas should be made from the interactive farm
systems.

     Ifarml3 and 20 farm nodes will be upgraded to Enterprise Linux 3.
A new queue
     will be setup called el3 to allow jobs to be submitted to the new
systems.

     Maple version 9, Matlab 6.5, and Mathematica 5.0.1 will become the
defaults on
     all platforms.
