The Computer Center is building a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 64-bit
environment
for Scientific Computing. We currently have 3 machines available for
users to login
and begin testing:
FARMTEST64O - dual core Opteron 175 - Sun Fire X2100 - 2GB RAM
FARMTEST64X - dual 3.2MHz Xeons - CSI Supermicro - 2GB RAM
FARMTEST64P - dual core Pentium D830 - Dell - 1GB RAM
These systems are a work-in-progress, still needing Perl, Cernlib, and the
32 bit GNU developer environment. Root and Geant4 are already available,
thanks to Bob Michaels and Paul Gueye.
Please feel free to login and provide feedback to us at farm@jlab.org.
Testing these machines will provide valuable input in selecting the next
generation
of interactive and batch compute farm nodes.
